Whitewater: WIAC Champions

Congrats to the Warhawks for winning the WIAC tournament! What an unbelievable run these guys put together despite all the road blocks that have jumped in the way as the season progressed.

By looking at the box score and game write-ups it looks like it was an excellent game with high drama at the end and great play by both teams. It would be awesome, if you were at the game, if you left a comment about what the game was like. I would love to hear it.

Hopefully WW can continue the magic in the NCAA tourney and hopefully Point gets the at large bid that they rightfully deserve.

Great game and a great atmosphere!
Point shot 68% in the 1st half and was still down 3! You knew something had to change either WW had to get some stops or Point would have to cool off. Vernon, Mckay, and a rusty Goodwin all had a nice 1st half for WW. Point was balanced.

2nd half more of the same----Khalifa hit a couple bombs from about 25'. WW went up 12 with about 9 min. left. Point cut it to 6 with 5 min. to play. Then Koski went off. He hit a big 3---dished to Vernon for a lay-up---then with under 2 min. left and the score at 63-59 and shot clock running down Koski drove from right to left to the hoop and was hit by Hurd and Rortvedt and yet somehow made the shot. Rortvedt rolled his ankle on the play--- hope I'm wrong but I think the injury will keep him out for some time.
Point answered with a Hickland lay-up. And with 55 sec. and the shot clock running out, Koski did it again, this time from left to right to the hoop for a lay-up.

Point never quit--cutting the lead to 1 but WW made most of their ft's.

As a fan you wanted to say "take a break and lets play 2"
Point certainly deserves a bid.

Thanks for the details!

I wish I could have been there.

Wow, Point lit up the nets in the first half and still trailed at the half.

Great to hear that Koski had a nice game. He doesn't get much recognition and nothing he did in the games I saw really blew me away, but I have a feeling he is a huge reason why that team is so resilient.

After seeing Point destroy WW a few weeks ago, I didn't think the Warhawks would pull it off. Great for them.

Point better get in. They deserve it.

Hopefully Rortvedt is OK.
