There goes the bench.

Lax and StP rosters are up.

TJ Nereng and Andrew Haass are both on the roster even though they didn't appear in the box score against Winona State.

Point's bench just got a bit smaller: Drew Jackson, Scott Hoelzl, and Ross Rortvedt are all no longer on the team. In a way this might be good for Point because Semling will have a tighter rotation and the starters will get in better groves. I felt he played too many players last season. All three of those guys were terrific players and they will be missed, none the less. I thought Jackson had the potential to be an outstanding player, but he seemed to be buried at the end of bench at times. Probably in Semling's dog-house.

That leaves EC as the only team who has not posted a roster. Maybe Gibby is going to drop a few surprises on us; Sherm and Wallenfelz are coming back? You can get an idea of what EC is bringing to the table with the EC/GB box score.

What Point lost in athleticism, they may have gained in scoring threats... Schumacher hit 5/6 3's in the intersquad, and Griffin had some 50 pt+ games in HS too. Schumacher comes in as a 6'9" small forward type who may have outside skills not unlike Iserloth from several years ago... but I don't think he has enough bulk, as of yet, to bang inside with the big boys.

Griffin comes in at 6'2" 230... he's got the bulk and was a very talented running back in high school, too. I remember seeing him grow up in 7th and 8th grade... he could really shoot it then, and he's filled out too. He may turn out to be a Jon Krull type player, possibly with more of an outside game.

I don't know anything about Point's other freshman, Brezinski, but coming in at 6'8" 225, he looks like he may add some much needed size.

That said, from the report on the scrimmage I heard, Wotachek stayed at about the 10-15 ft range the whole time in the scrimmage and wasn't too much of a factor... Point NEEDS him to be in inside presence so they can get D's to collapse and open up the outside game... which should be as good as ever with a healthy Pete Rortvedt

Sad to see Jackson and Hoelzel not on Point this year. It's hard to imagine but they'd be the best players right now on at least one WIAC team...
