I'm off to Stevens Point this weekend to check out the Jackets vs the Pointers. Should be a good time as always.
StP over Sup
I have never witnessed Point losing at Quandt and I don't expect that to change in this one. Point rolls to an easy victory on Bennett Court.
WW over St
Stout has played tough against the league's elite lately and I'm sure they will hang around for a while. WW is tough at home though.
Osh over Lax
Lax woes continue in this one. I'm interested to see if Matt Miller will have a break out game. He has been in a funk lately, but this seems like a good match-up for him to get rolling again. I'll take the Titans.
EC over RF
This could be the kiss of death for the Golds. I'm showing them some love. EC seems to be hitting their stride and RF is searching for some answers. EC in a close game.

WIAC Games 2/4/09
The 'Ville 77 Lax 63
The score of this game is closer than the game actually was. The 'Ville put an old fashioned butt spankin' down on the Eagles. It was a 30 point game during the second half. Hanson, Shaw, and Skemp lead the way for The 'Ville. Lax is in a major tailspin and The 'Ville looks to be in good shape heading into the big showdown with WW next Wednesday.
StP 73 St 64
This game was actually played competitively from what I can tell. StP seemed to have control, but Stout hung right there with them for most of the game. Stout is really starting to play well and will be a dangerous team to play for the rest of the conference teams looking to get into the conference tourney. Louis Hurd and Matt Moses made up for Pete Rortvedt's cold night from the floor.
EC 75 Osh 62
EC fans most likely love me and hate me at the same time. I never show the Golds any love, so I can understand why EC fans would dislike me. On the other hand, there may be some weird conspiracy going on against me with EC. Everytime I pick them to lose, they win. This was a huge game for both teams and EC took care of business thanks to a balanced scoring attack and excellent defense on DSA and Miller. They let Marsh be a one man show and that strategy appeared to work.
Sup 69 RF 56
The story of this game for Superior was Dan Culy and Shane Manor. Both were absolutely outstanding and RF had no answers for either of them. Jake Smith had an off night for his standards, but it was nice to see the other two super-sophs step up their games. Sup will need all three to be productive in order to start thinking about being a top level team in this conference. Culy ended up with 32 points on 10-16 shooting and Manor dropped in 18 points in 23 minutes.
RF simply got outplayed in this game. Sup was more energetic from the tip and they kept that energy level going throughout the game. They wanted it more and it showed. RF tinkered with their starting line-up, but that did not help things. Jontae Koonkaew had his worst game I have seen all season, only scoring 4 points. His lack of energy on the court was apparent. It looked like he may have been sick or something.
As bad as it seemed at times for the Falcons they did manage to keep it close and got some great looks from 3 point land, but the shots didn't fall, 6-22 on the game.
Impressive win for the Jackets especially since D Hill was on the bench for most of the game. His leg still seems to be bothering him.
Both schools had nice crowds there, but the energy from the RF students was fairly minimal.
The race for the last 2 playoffs spots is tight and it is still anyone's to win.
I'm interested to see what Sup will be able to do against Point this weekend.

WIAC Predictions 2/4/09
It has been a while since I have seen a WIAC game, but that all changes this week. I will be seeing a lot of Superior as I will be at the RF/Sup game tonight and the StP/Sup game on Saturday.
EC over Osh
Battle for the #4 seed takes place at Zorn tonight. My gut tells me that Osh is going to pull this off, but logically I see EC winning. EC is not a bad team. When they are clicking on all the cylinders they have the fire power to beat anyone. I'll give them the nod since they are at home.
StP over St
Stout has been an improved team in the second half, but that won't matter against the Pointers.
The 'Ville over Lax
Weird to think that not that long ago, I picked Lax to take down The 'Ville. My, how things can change quickly, as I would not even consider doing that in this game.
RF over Sup
RF lost a heart breaker up in Sup this season and I'm sure that will be fresh in their minds. It has been a somewhat forgettable season for the Jackets. They hit a sophomore slump this season, but hopefully they find a way to grow from it. Falcons in a close one.
